Lecture Topics: 1. week: Ischemic and bleeding brain accidents 2. week: Vertebrogenous diseases: prolapse of intervertebral disc, degenerative stenosis, olisthesis 3. week: Brain tumours of adults and children, spine and spinal cord tumours 4. week: Craniocerebral traumas, spinal cord injuries 5. week: Infections of the neural system 6. week: Injuries of peripheral nerves, narrow syndromes 7. week: Hydrocephalus among children and adults, normotension hydrocephalus Seminar Topics: 1. week: Complete evaluation of a patient in a neurology department by a nurse (physical examination, evaluation of consciousness). Examination methods in neurology (preparation of a patient for an examination, examination monitoring). 2. week: Health care for a patient with a vascular brain accident in acute, subacute and rehabilitation phase. 3. week: Health care for a patient with vertebrogenous disease. The care after a patient with meningitis, encephalitis 4. week: Health care for patients with brain, spine, spinal cord tumours. 5. week: Health care for a patient with a multiple sclerosis. The care after a patient with normotension hydrocephalus. 6. week: Health care for a patient with epilepsy. The care after a patient with migraine. 7. week: Health care after the patients with a degenerative disorder of the neural system (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

Summary: The subject is theoretically-practical. It is a part of the complex set of subjects from clinical health care. It introduces the clinical states from the point of health care and the patients' needs which are changing because of diseases affecting neural system and which are significantly affecting the quality of human life.
Subject Knowledge: Student knows the causes, aetiology and symptoms of individual diseases affecting the neural system. He knows basic procedures in diagnostic and treatment of neurological diseases. Student is able to describe the specifics of health care for the patients with neurological disease. Professional Skills: Student is able to create the plan of health care in the context of the specifics of neurological diseases. He is able to create an educational plan for the patients with selected neurological diseases.
