Course content
Lecture topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system. The system of care for women. Specifics of paediatric gynaecology. 2. Gynaecological surgery. 3. Gynaecological inflammations. 4. Physiological pregnancy, childbirth and six months of childbirth. 5. Irregular pregnancy, childbirth and six months of childbirth. 6. Methods of examination in gynaecology and obstetrics. 7. Benign tumours, precancerous and malignant tumours of the female reproductive system. Seminar topics. 1. Nursing process in adolescent girls, women in gynecological outpatient clinic. 2. Nursing process in a woman undergoing gynaecological surgery. 3. Nursing process in a woman with inflammation of the external genitalia. 4. Nursing process in a woman with genital cancer. 5. Nursing process in a woman with physiological pregnancy. 6. Nursing process in a woman with a physiological delivery. 7. Nursing process in a physiological six-week-old woman. 8. Nursing process in a woman with a risky or pathological pregnancy.

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as a theoretical and practical unit, the aim of which is to acquire knowledge of the physiology and pathology of female genital organs, prevention, diagnosis and therapy of gynaecological diseases and sudden events in gynaecology. The aim of obstetrics is to acquire the basic knowledge of the physiology and pathology of pregnancy, childbirth and six months of life. The course also introduces students to preventive examinations of girls from birth to 19 years of age, treatment of diseases and injuries of the genitalia, menstrual cycle disorders, genetic anomalies, congenital developmental defects and reproductive health counselling.
Expertise: The student will describe the female reproductive system. The student will explain the menstrual cycle of a woman. The student will list the basic examination methods used in the field of GYN-POR. The student will provide education to a woman prior to anticipated gynecologic surgery. The student will evaluate the course of physiologic pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the six-week period. Professional Skills: The student will evaluate by physical examination the current status of a woman in the gynecologic outpatient clinic. The student will implement the nursing process for a woman undergoing gynecologic surgery. The student will be able to implement the education of a pregnant woman in a prenatal clinic. The student will demonstrate breastfeeding education. General Competencies: The student is able to communicate their own professional opinions clearly and persuasively to professionals and the general public.
