Course content
Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: Pathology, its subject, methods and practical application. Interdisciplinary relations. The examples of the types of necrosis and healing. Gangrene, decubitus. Atrophy: causes, examples. Dystrophy protein: amyloidosis, hyaline change ligaments. Diabetes mellitus: pathogenesis, complications. Metabolism water, minerals: calcium, calcification, crystallization, lithiasis. Examples of pigmentation Exogenous: lung silicosis. Examples of endogenous pigmentation (melanin, hematogenous). Jaundice. The Second Consultation: Pathology pericardium, myocardium, endocardium. Pathology of blood vessels and organs. Seminar Topics: The First Consultation: Disease: definition, characteristics, process. Pathology tasks in curative and preventive care. The autopsy, types of autopsy, the meaning of autopsy tasks while applying autopsy. The Second Consultation: Biopsy, characteristics, importance, the methods of tissue procurement. Body termination: the nature of death, the cause of death, clinical death. Self-Study: Pathology of the respiratory system. Pathology of the musculoskeletal system. Pathology of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Learning outcomes
Students will get the overview about the causes of diseases, regressive and metabolic changes, inflammations and tumor diseases. Students will also get the overview of the material processing intended for a histological examination, optical methods used in everyday practice; they will know basic pathophysiological mechanisms.
Subject Knowledge: Students should get the basic overview of general pathology and pathology of the basic organ systems. Professional Skills: Students will master basic medical terminology and understand the application of pathology in practice, science and research.
