Basic regressive changes. 2. week: The disorders of ions and water metabolism. 3. week: The disorders of glycides, fats. 4. week: Inflammations. 5. week: The pathology of an endocrine system. 6. week: Blood pathology. 7. week: The pathology of a respiratory system. 8. week: The pathology of peripheral and central neural system. 9. week: The pathology of the motoric system. Seminar Topics: 1. week: Pathology, its importance and position in medicine. 2. week: Diabetes mellitus. 3. week: Metabolic defects. 4. week: Pathophysiological background for inflammations. 5. week: The effects of hormones on bone tissue. Osteoporosis and osteomalacia. 6. week: Leukaemia, lymphomas. 7. week: Tuberculosis. 8. week: Sclerosis multiplex, Alzheimer's disease. Learning outcomes |
Student will get an overview of the causes of diseases, regressive and metabolic changes, inflammations and tumours. Student will also get an overview about the ways of processing material for histological examination, diagnostic methods used in everyday activities; he will know basic pathophysiological mechanisms.
Subject Knowledge: Student will get basic overview of general pathology and the pathology of basic organ systems. Professional Skills: Student will know basic medical terminology and understand the application of pathology in studies, science and research. |

The credit will be granted after reaching at minimum 50% lecture and seminar attendance. There will be also an internship at a pathological department and the autopsy. It is also necessary to submit a final written project |
