Learning outcomes
|
The subject is theoretically-practical. It introduces the students to clinical states from the point of view of health care and the needs of the patients affected by mental disorders influencing health and life quality. It clarifies the differences in individual care in different kinds of facilities. It also introduces general psychiatry, diagnostics and therapy as wells as legal aspects related to mental disorders pointing out the importance of physiotherapy as a part of treatment of mental diseases.
Subject Knowledge: Student knows the possibilities of diagnostics and the therapy of patients with mental disorders, he knows symptoms of selected mental disorders, he knows the specifics of therapy for the patients with mental disorders. Professional Skills: Students are able to recognize some clinical displays of mental disorders; they can understand the specifics of mental disorders in an old age and a child's age. They are able to describe basic diagnostic methods in psychiatry, name therapeutic possibilities in psychiatry. Students are able to consider legal aspects related to mental disorders and explain the importance of physiotherapy as a part of mental disorder treatment.

Assessment methods and criteria

Active class participation, a written test with 80% passing level, an oral exam. An internship in a psychiatric hospital, self-study of recommended literature and teaching aids, supervision by means of electronic and individual consultation.
