Course content
Lecture topics: 1. General oncology. 2. Epidemiology of tumors, genetic malignancies. 3. Classification of tumors, basic properties of tumors. 4. Principles of treatment in oncology. 5. Prevention of oncological diseases. 6. Definition of palliative care, principles of palliative care, palliative treatment of the most common physical symptoms. 7. Fundamentals of chemotherapy. 8. Treatment of pain, recurrence. Exercise topics: (2 hours / week) 1. Specifics of treatment of cancer patients. 2. Nursing care of patient with cancer pain. 3. Importance of primary and secondary prevention, Fundamentals of chemotherapy. 4. Specifics of palliative care. Hospice movement. 5. Possibilities of nurse in influencing pain, patient care in the terminal stage. 6. Review, credit test.

Learning outcomes
This subject is a theoretical-practical unit. It informs about the importance of primary and secondary cancer prevention. List with differences and character of workplaces for care and treatment of cancer patients. It provides information on individual clinical conditions in terms of nursing care and the needs of patients altered in connection with cancer, which significantly affect the quality of life of the patient and his family. The topic of palliative care is a part of complexes of subjects from clinical nursing. It is conceived as a practical unit and is closely related to the issue of nursing care for patients with cancer.
Expertise: The student knows o Diversity and nature of cancer care and treatment centers and has information on individual clinical conditions that significantly affect the quality of life of the cancer patient and his family. Professional skills: Student can o provide nursing care to cancer patients; o provide care to a patient with cancer; o explain the issue of the hospice movement, o take care of the patient at the terminal stage, incl. support of his family.
