Course content
Framework scope of practice: A general nurse can perform, without expert supervision, on the basis of a doctor's or dentist's indication of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation, urgent, palliative and dispensary care activities. In doing so, it prepares patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and performs or assists or provides nursing care during and after these procedures based on the indication of the doctor, in particular: o introduce peripheral venous catheters to patients older than 3 years o Medicinal products other than radiopharmaceuticals, unless they are intravenous injections or infusions in children under3 years of age, unless otherwise specified. o Introduce and maintain inhalation and oxygen therapy o carry out screening, screening and dispensary examinations, collect blood and other biological material, and assess whether the results are physiological; in the case of physiological results, it may schedule a further check, o Treat acute and surgical wounds, including treatment of drains, drainage systems, and skin during radiotherapy o remove stitches in primarily healing wounds and drains, with the exception of thoracic drainage and drainage in the head region, o Bladder catheterization for women and girls over the age of 3 o Replace and treat tracheostomy cannula, introduce gastric probes to patients conscious over 10 years of age, including patency and treatment, and apply enteral nutrition to patients of all ages o perform gastric lavage in patients conscious over 10 years o assist in initiating the application of transfusion products and treating the patient during and ending the application; o carry out visiting service and provide care in the patient's own social environment, o Serve food for special medical purposes o Perform rehabilitation treatment, in particular, positioning, seating, basic passive, breathing and fitness exercises, mobility and relocation training, self-care training to increase patient self-sufficiency and exercise related rehabilitation and swallowing rehabilitation exercises in collaboration with a physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist. and emptying and methods of basal stimulation with respect to preventing and correcting body function disorders, including preventing other disorders from immobility, o evaluate and treat central and peripheral venous inputs, including their patency, o care for established urinary catheters of patients of all ages, including bladder rinses.

Professional practice is focused on nurse work in internal and surgical wards, students work under the direct guidance of a mentor. Getting to know the operation of inpatient ENT units, infection, eye, gynecology, oncology. Based on the fulfillment of the general nurse's profession, the number of hours of professional experience may be reduced for students / Decree No. 39/2005 Coll. , they practice the profession of nurse.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures and the theory of nursing, which can be applied in practice through nursing plans and nursing interventions. Professional skills: The student is able to implement nursing care by the nursing process method, is able to work with medical documentation and is a valid member of the medical team.
