Course content
Framework scope of practice: The aim is to involve the student into the work of the medical team, to consolidate knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical education, to extend practical knowledge and independence, incl. organization of work during the provision of nursing care. Students will get acquainted with the structure of services of individual medical facilities and with their specialized departments. A general nurse can perform, without expert supervision, on the basis of a doctor's or dentist's indication of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation, urgent, palliative and dispensary care activities. o Identification of bio-psycho-social needs of clients and their evaluation. o Establishing a nursing care plan for a patient with a particular medical diagnosis o Oxygen administration and medication delivery to the respiratory tract o Application of drugs per os o Applying drugs to the skin, rectum, conjunctival sac o Administration of drugs s.c. o Application of i.m. o Assistance with dressing o Assistance in drug delivery i.v. including infusions o Assist in the treatment of peripheral venous catheter o Patient education o Positioning immobile patients o Verticalization of patients o Rehabilitation of the patient in the bed o Breathing rehabilitation, including cough training o Training to use compensation aids o Walking practice o Lower extremity bandages o Activities related to pressure ulcers prevention o Monitoring pain in adult patients using standardized measurement techniques o Assistance in carrying out activities related to the discharge of a patient from hospitalization or to his / her translation to another hospital location o Dying patient care activities o Body care activities o Acceptance, control and storage of medicinal products (with the exception of addictive substances) o Acceptance, inspection and storage of medical devices and laundry

Learning outcomes
Professional training in the summer semester is focused on deepening of the knowledges and skills of nursing activities in inpatient facilities, the practice takes place at surgical and internal workplaces. Based on the fulfillment of the general nurse's profession, the number of hours of professional experience may be reduced for students / Decree No. 39/2005 Sb. , they practice the profession of nurse. Students work according to individual OP plan and consult with the professional training guarantor.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures and the theory of nursing, which can be applied in practice through nursing plans and nursing interventions. The list of workplaces accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic with which the Faculty of Health studies has concluded a contractual relationship is given in Table B-IV. Professional skills: The student is able to implement nursing care by the nursing process method, is able to work with medical documentation and is a valid member of the medical team.

The condition for obraining credits is to create a nursing plan for a specific client, keeping of the Book of professional training and score of the mentor. Working with the nursing report according to the instructions of the guarantor of professional training.
