Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. week: Sampling of biological material (urine, stool, sputum, smears and swabs of cavities, body surface, wounds, mucosa) 6 hours 2. week: Sampling of biological material (blood: venous, capillary, assistance during sampling of blood from an artery; sampling through open or closed system) 6 hours 3. week: Inserting and caring after a peripheral venous canile, care after central catheter and ports. 6 hours 4. week: Infusion, parenteral nutrition. 6 hours 5. week: Transfusion. 6 hours 6. week: Care after wounds and stomias, bandaging techniques. 6 hours 7. week: Small surgical performances, bandaging table, sterile table. 6 hours 8. week: Punction, endoscopy. 6 hours 9. week: Test week (repetition of practical performances, test) 6 hours

Learning outcomes
The subject is theoretically-practical. The content of the subject is the core set of professional nursing skills and it is the part of a complex group integrating basic professional subjects. Students will have theoretical knowledge for performing supervised and independent nursing activities, which are considered to be a basis for performing the activities regarding present legal norms related to general nurses.
Subject Knowledge: Student has theoretical knowledge of practical nursing performances with respect to the competencies of a general nurse and present legislative. Student is able to describe nursing procedures in individual areas, their importance, preparation and caring after a patient before, during and after a performance/procedure/activity. Student is able to describe negative effects of incorrectly performed nursing procedures on a human health. Professional Skills: Student can practically demonstrate individual nursing procedures. Student demonstrates manual skills during performing practical techniques of supervised, independent and collaborative activities of a nurse regarding the o individual needs and the safety of a patient.
