Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. week: Work organization, nursing unit and its parts, patients' bed and its adjustments, laundry, room equipment, signalization, monitoring the environment around the patient/client. 5 hours 2. week: Disinfection and sterilization (equipment naintanance, surfaces), barrier health care, nosocomial infection and their prevention. 5 hours 3. week: Acceptance, transport and release of a patient, (documentation, prints, modern systems of medical documentation), ward visits, ward visit types, management of ward visits, assistance during the ward visit, protection of personal data 5 hours 4. week: Hygienic care (morning and evening toilet, bath, washing the hair in bed, bathing for a child), manipulation with the patient (from bed to the bathroom, in bed), mobilization, the issues of decubites, care after a dead body. 5 hours 5. week: Nutrition and nourishment of the patients (system of feeding in a hospital facility, ?) 5 hours 6. week: Releasing urine 5 hours 7. week: Bowel movement 5 hours 8. week: Physiological function, treatment and examination positions. 5 hours 9. week: Medication application 5 hours 10. week: Application of an injection 5 hours 11. week: Test week (repetition of practical tasks/operations, test). 5 hours

Learning outcomes
The subject is theoretically-practical. The content of the subject is a core set of professional skills for nurses and it is a part of a basic professional complex of subjects. Students will have theoretical knowledge for performing dependent and independent activities of a nurse, which are taken as a basis for performing the activities regarding actual legal norms related to general nurses. Individual nursing procedures and techniques are taught considering the principles of the nursing process and holistic understanding of health care.
Subject knowledge: Student has theoretical knowledge of practical nursing performances considering the competencies of a general nurse and current legislative. Student is able to describe nursing procedures in individual areas, their importance, preparation and caring after a patient before, during and after the treatment performance/procedure/activity. Student is able to describe negative effects of incorrectly performed nursing procedures on a human health. Professional skills: Student can practically demonstrate individual nursing procedures. Student proves manual skills during performing the practical techniques of dependent and independent and collaborative activities of a nurse taking into consideration individual needs and patient's safety.
