Course content
Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: general ENT, basic anatomy of the ear, nose and throat, foundations of phoniatry Seminar Topics: The First Consultations: investigative methods in ENT, emergency states in ENT Self-Study: Nursing process at the ENT department: students can qualify the specifics of nursing, the sections of the department, the system of organizing the work of a nurse at the outpatient and inpatient departments, preparing a patient for the surgery. Students can prepare the patient for surgery of the ear, throat, nose; they know the differences of the preparation of the patient during planned or acute intervention, the specifics of perioperative care for children and adults. Nursing process: students can create a nursing plan for the client undergoing some operations: tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, they can describe general principles. Nursing process for the client with an acute ear, throat and nose states: the student can prepare a care plan for a selected clinical disease.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretically-practical unit. It complements the medical knowledge of the field in clinical nursing. It especially emphasizes prevention, particularly, in the care of hearing function and prevention of serious damage to the auditory system. It introduces the students with clinical manifestations of the nursing care; it presents the needs of patients changed because of disease-related hearing loss. It introduces students to the provision of care by a multidisciplinary team for the patients with hearing impairments at in-patient medical non-bed facilities.
Subject Knowledge: Students will get the basic overview of ear, throat and nose diseases which connect anatomy, physiology, diagnostic and therapeutic process and nursing process for the patients of all ages. They have the knowledge of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in ENT and communication skills. The extent of instruction is only a framework and guideline for students leading to the further study of the issue including additional study of the phoniatry Professional Skills: Students know about professional issues at the ENT department of pediatric and adult care, students can describe the examination and imaging techniques, they know the ways of assessing the condition of the patient in the perioperative period for the patients of child's and adult age, they know the principles of preoperative, interoperational and postoperative care for patients of all ages including the differences of approaching the age group of the patient, they master specific skills for outpatient and inpatient sections and the principles of an aseptic activity, students can educate the patients, they know the
