Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. The category of human needs of the patient in nursing - the theory of the patient's needs, the relationship of motivation - the need, the classification of needs. 2. Factors modifying the satisfaction of the patient's needs, specifics of assessing the psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient. 3. Specifics of meeting needs in children and seniors. 4. Nursing process, introduction, history. 5. Nursing process assessment. 6. Diagnosis in nursing process. 7. Planning the nursing process. Sister interventions. 8. Realization and evaluation in the nursing process. Documentation of the process. 9. Problems of psychosocial needs in the nursing process. 10. The issue of sexual needs in the nursing process. 11. Spirituality and religiosity in the nursing process. Seminar Topics: 1. Patient needs - creation of daily life activities of the patient according to the needs of the patient using nursing models. 2. Sorting needs and differences in healthy and sick people. 3. Child and senior needs - creation of daily life activities for children and the elderly. 4. Forms of provision of nursing care using the nursing process in practice. 5. Practical assessment using nursing documentation. 6. Creation of nursing diagnoses based on patient / client history. 7. Creating nursing plans based on established nursing diagnoses - see previous seminar. 8. Practical documentation of performed interventions, evaluation of the nursing plan. 9. Nursing process in the area of security and safety, self-estem. 10. Nursing process in the field of sexuality, spirituality and religiosity. 11. Summary - creation of the nursing process according to the presented case history.

Learning outcomes
The subject is an inevitable part of health care theory. It allows the students to understand the main task of the professional nursing training, which is securing and satisfying the needs of patients, families and community. It introduces the classifications of human needs based on specific fields and the authors; it focuses on reactions and symptoms of unfulfilled needs of healthy, ill people, people with special needs and dying people. It also focuses on training the steps comprising a nursing process and its individual phases and the ways of recording it.
Subject knowledge: Student is able to name and define individual phases of a nursing process, name and describe the hierarchy of needs based on A. Maslow, name factors influencing the satisfaction / dissatisfaction of psychosocial human needs, name and describe the possibilities of using measuring and evaluating scales for objectification of damaged needs, define and describe the importance of individual needs considering health and disease. Professional skills: Student is able to apply the method of a nursing process for a specified patient in a form of case study, use evaluating and measuring scales for evaluating a patient within a nursing anamnesis and evaluating nursing interventions, evaluate the needs of a patient during anamnesis creation and nursing plan, decide on the seriousness of the damage of a need and the possibilities of the influence a nursing intervention, deals with nursing documentation.

Credit requirements are 80% presence during the seminars. The subject is finished with an oral exam.
