Course content
Lecture topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Categories of human needs in nursing - theory of needs, relationship between motivation and need, classification of needs. 2. Factors modifying the satisfaction of the child's needs, specifics of assessment of psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs. 3. The specifics of meeting the needs of children. 4. Nursing process, introduction, history. 5. Assessment in the nursing process. 6. Diagnostics in the nursing process. 7. Planning the nursing process. Nursing interventions. 8. Implementation and evaluation in the nursing process. 9. Documentation of the nursing process. 10. Issues of psychosocial needs in the nursing process. 11. Issues of sexual needs in the nursing process. 12. Spirituality and religiosity in the nursing process. Seminar topics: 1. Child's needs - creation of daily life activities according to the child's needs. 2. Classification of needs and differences in a healthy and sick child. 3. Children's needs - creation of activities of daily life. 4. The needs of a premature child, the needs of a child with a disability 5. Forms of providing nursing care using the nursing process in practice. 6. Practical assessment using nursing documentation. 7. Creation of nursing diagnoses based on the presented history of the child patient. 8. Creation of nursing plans based on established nursing diagnoses. 9. Practical documentation of performed interventions, evaluation of the nursing plan. 10. Nursing process in the area of: certainty and safety, self-concept and self-esteem. 11. Nursing process in the field of spirituality and religiosity. 12. Creating a nursing process according to the presented case report.

Learning outcomes
The course is an essential part of nursing theory that enables students to understand the main task of professional nursing practice, which is to find and meet the needs of the pediatric patient, family or community. It introduces students to the characteristics of the needs of children at different stages of their development in relation to health, illness or disability. It focuses on the acquisition of thought processes in individual phases of the nursing process as a method of solving patient problems. It provides an overview of the ways and forms of documenting nursing care.
Expertise: Students can list and define individual phases of the nursing process and understand the importance of individual needs in the relationship between health and illness. Professional skills: Students can apply the method of the nursing process to a specific patient in the form of a case study, use evaluation and measurement scales when evaluating a patient as part of a nursing history and evaluating nursing interventions. Evaluate the patients' needs when compiling a nursing history and a nursing plan, assess the severity of the need violation and the possibility of influencing them by nursing intervention . General qualifications: Student is able to practically use individual nursing procedures when working with a patient in a medical facility.
