Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: 1. Introduction to organization and current problems of paediatrics. 2. Growth and development of a healthy child, nutrition. 3. Pharmacotherapy in childhood, infectious diseases in childhood. 4. Respiratory diseases, skin diseases. 2nd consultation: 1. Diseases of blood, heart, blood circulation. 2. Renal and urinary disorders. 3. Diseases of the digestive system. 4. Diseases of endocrine glands. Exercise Topics: 3rd Consultation: 1. Nursing process in child with respiratory diseases. 2. Nursing process in a child with GIT disease. 3. Nursing process in a child with a disease on the uropoetic tract. 4. Nursing process in a child with hematopoiesis and blood coagulation disorders. Self-study: Growing and developing a healthy child. Nursing process in a child with selected endocrine diseases.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as theoretical - practical. It is part of a nursing care complex for mother and child care. It gives an overview of the particularities of nursing care and individual needs of the child in individual age groups with emphasis on the period of neonatal and infant. Students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for overall nursing care of the child, including intensive care.
Expertise: The student knows the causes, etiology and symptoms of childhood disease. The student knows the basic procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in paediatrics. The student is able to elaborate a nursing care plan in the context of specific diseases in paediatrics. The student is able to develop, implement and evaluate an educational plan for children with selected diseases
