Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to ontogeny. 2. Prenatal period. 3. Neonatal period. 4. Infancy. 5. The toddler period. 6. Preschool age. 7. Younger school age. 8. Pubescence. Adolescence. 9. Adulthood. 10. Old age. 11. Differences in the psychological development of boys and girls. 12. Overview of theories of human mental development. Seminar topics: 1. Evolution, involution, phylogeny. The relationship between developmental psychology and neurophysiology. 2. Behavior of premature babies. 3. Behavior of a newborn child, ability to learn, basic behavioral states of the child. 4. Development of gross and fine motor skills in infancy, perception and pre-speech expression. 5. Development of gross and fine motor skills, cognitive development, socialization in the toddler period. 6. A child's starts in school, development of prerequisites for a successful school start, drawing, speech, game theory. 7. Development of basic abilities and skills, cognitive and emotional development, socialization in younger school age. 8. Secular acceleration, main psychological characteristics - development of abilities, skills, interests, cognitive development, emotional development, socialization, specific developmental problems in adolescence. 9. Developmental stages, cognitive development, social inclusion and emotional development in adulthood. 10. Deterioration of cognitive functions, coping strategies with old age, social disengagement. 11. Differences in the development of boys and girls in terms of speech, social behavior, school performance and their possible causes. 12. Theory of mental development - Ch. Buhlerová, Mahlerová, A. Gessell, S. Freud, A. Adler, A. Maslow, J. Piaget, E. H. Erikson.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical and practical. It provides basic information about the ontogeny of the development of the psyche and the development of the psychosocial needs of an individual from birth to death, which leads to a better understanding of the behavior of an ill child, and to understanding his needs and the problems that the disease brings to him and his family. It deals with the psychology of ill children of all age groups.
Expertise: Students characterize individual periods - childhood, adolescence, adulthood, life climax and stabilization, aging and old age and know the differences in the mental development of men and women. Professional skills: Students are able to apply knowledge from the field of mental, physical, emotional and cognitive development of an individual in work with a patient. General qualifications: Student is able to apply findings and knowledge from the specifics of individual development depending on the biological and socio-cultural conditions of individual development in the profession of pediatric nurse.
