Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. Introduction to the subject (MUDr. Josef Škola, EDIC - 1 hour) 2. Monitoring of patients in intensive care, instrumentation, scoring systems (Tomáš Pařízek, MD - 1 hour) 3. Specifics, risks and the most common mistakes in intensive care (Mgr. Olga Vařilová - 1 hour) 4. Evaluation and treatment of pain. Applied pharmacology in intensive care (Michal Kalina, MD - 1 hour) 5. Respiratory insufficiency and respiratory support (MUDr. Ing. Jan Beneš - 1 hour) Exercise topics: (2 hours / week) 6. Rehabilitation nursing, positioning of patients and basal stimulation (Mgr. Olga Vařilová - 2 hours) 7. Urgent resuscitation (MUDr. Xaya Waicová - 2 hours) 8. Patient monitoring - practice (Mgr. Olga Vařilová - 1 hour) 9. Vascular inputs and care (Bc. Hana Oliva - 1 hour) 10. Hand hygiene and barrier nursing care (Bc. Hana Oliva - 1 hour) 11. Respiratory care (Mgr. Learning outcomes
This subject is theoretical and practical. The content of the course is the core of the professional skills of nurses with a focus on the specifics of nursing care for patients in intensive care. Students will have the theoretical knowledge to perform dependent and independent nursing activities, on the basis of which they will be able to realize the performance in accordance with valid legislation and competences for general nurses. Individual nursing procedures and techniques are taught with regard to the specifics of providing nursing care in intensive care in accordance with the principles of the nursing process and holistic conception of nursing care.
Expertise: The student is acquainted with the issue of providing nursing care in intensive care and resuscitation care. The student knows the specific needs of intensive care patients. He knows the basic monitoring of invasive and non-invasive procedures in intensive care. Professional skills: The student is able to provide basic nursing care to patients in intensive care units. Can measure physiological functions in patients in intensive care. The student is able to care for the patient in intensive care within the scope of their competencies. General competences: The student is able to perform nursing activities in accordance with Decree No. 55/2011 Coll., Which stipulates the activities of health professionals and other professionals in the intensive care unit.
