Learning outcomes
The subject creates a thematic unit. By completing this course, students become basic knowledge in the fields of microbiology and immunology, which form an important basis for the study of epidemiology, hygiene and health education, ie public health, but also nursing in clinical disciplines and the prevention of healthcare associated infections. Teaching is focused on the basics of medical microbiology - general and special; bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology and the basics of immunology: immune system, immunity, microbiological and immunological laboratory methods, clinical immunology, immunization.
Expertise: The student masters the basic technical terminology in the field of microbiology and immunology, demonstrates knowledge of naming and classifying infectious agents, masters the nature of antimicrobial agents and resistance, knows the function and components of the immune system, masters the nature and forms of immunization, knows the clinical manifestations of immune system changes. Professional skills: The student is able to read and interpret professional literature in the field of microbiology and immunology applied to nursing, can collect biological material for microbiological and serological examination and transport to appropriate laboratories, is able to explain to the patient the correct use of antimicrobial drugs with professional justification. General competences: The student is able to clearly communicate to professionals and lay people information about the nature of professional problems in the field of microbiology and immunology in relation to human health and effective health protection measures.
