The course is designed as a study unit that provides basic knowledge of microbiology and immunology, which is followed by the further experience in public health and nursing. The subject has a primarily preventive focus on promotion and protection of health, prevention of diseases and their complications
Subject Knowledge: The students master the basic terminology in the field of microbiology and immunology, they can identify and classify the infectious agents, they know how to control antimicrobial effects and the development of resistance, they can identify the features and components of the immune system, they understand the ways of controlling the nature and the forms of immunization, they can recognize clinical signs of immune system changes. Professional Skills: Student can read and interpret scientific literature in the field of microbiology and immunology applied in nursing, he can collect biological material for microbiological and serological tests and transport them to the appropriate laboratories, he can explain to the patient the correct way of using antimicrobial drugs with expert reasoning. Student submits a seminar paper on a given subject in a given field. Student can distinguish basic investigative methods in microbiology and immunology. He knows the vaccination calendar and various types of vaccination.
