Course content
Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: Managerial functions (planning, organizing, selecting, managing employees, control). Strategic management, search for alternatives, decision making. Strategic management, crisis management. The Second Consultation: Organizational culture, problem solving, change management, personnel management. Seminar Topics: The First Consultation: Effective consultation, delegation. Controlling according to the objectives of the interview considering future development. Performance evaluation, motivation. The Second Consultation: Quality management, health standards, audit, quality measurement. Self-study: Fundamentals of management, historical development. The manager and the leader, the role of a manager, classic business school. Current management approaches and schools.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretically - practical. It introduces the basics of modern management in the field of material and human resources strategies and quality management systems, health and social services. Students study the theory of quality management and the techniques of developing standards for the direct nursing care and the methods of auditory activity in nursing. They will study different types of organizational structures and their application in different types of institutions. They will understand the conception of organizational culture and the basic types of organizational cultures regarding national and multinational companies. Students will know the techniques used in problem solving. The attention is also paid to the strategic management in health services.
Subject Knowledge: Students know the conception of strategic management, factors influencing organization's external and internal environment. According to the level of management students can determine the predominant type of management and operation managers. They know the techniques used in problem solving and decision making. Students know the conception of quality management and they can work within the quality management system creating internal and external evaluation of care quality. After completing the course students know basic characteristics of organizational culture and the techniques used to change organizational culture. In the area of the human resource management they know how to plan the career of a health care provider. They know the term "adaptation process" and what is demanded from a non-medical graduate. Students know basic characteristics of management cycle and managerial roles and processes; they can describe the activities required by a particular phase. Professional Skills: After completing the course students can determine the vision of the institution and propose a strategy. They can choose an appropriate organizational structure in relation to a particular type of institution or individuals to occupy the positions. They can identify existing organizational culture and actively participate in its influence and possible change if is necessary. When solving the problems they can choose an appropriate technique; they find the problem root and propose the solutions to challenging situations. In the area of human resources they can deal with the employees' adaptation process, with the provision of care by non-medical personnel in accordance with the needs of different medical disciplines in relation to the legal norms. They can change the shift plan so that it is accepted by individuals while following the Labour Code. Students can create materials for an internal audit of quality management system and implement it effectively.
