Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to management, Health policy, current trends in health care. 2. Health care providers, health care institutions. 3. Management levels. 4. Personality and role of the manager in the organization /typology, characteristics, authority, characteristics of a successful manager/. 5. Managerial activities /planning and organizing in a health care institution/. 6. Leadership styles, manager's responsibility, team in healthcare. Seminar topics: 1. Strategic management, strategic analysis /SWOT, PEST/, BSC. 2. Specific examples of leadership style and motivation of people in healthcare. Team roles in healthcare. 3. Management communication - Presentation of results /2. hr/. 4. Public Relations as the main communication tool of a healthcare facility. 5. Decision making process in health care facility, control process in health care.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical one. It introduces students to the basics of modern management in the field of material and human resources in health care and social services providers.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of the concepts of management, managerial personality, characteristics of organizational culture and orientation in techniques used for example in changing organizational structure. The student demonstrates knowledge of managerial roles at different levels of management and is able to identify the predominant type of management and activities of managers. The student knows the techniques used in problem solving and managerial decision making. The student knows the basic characteristics of the management cycle and managerial roles and processes. Professional Skills: The student is able to select an appropriate organizational structure in relation to a particular type of institution and to staff each position with appropriate personnel. The student will be able to identify the existing organisational culture and actively participate in influencing and changing it. In the area of human resources, they can describe the basic principles of people management, including the process of staff adaptation, and can develop job descriptions focusing on the provision of care by individual non-medical health professionals in relation to legal standards. The trainee is able to develop a shift plan. General Competencies: After completing the lecture and practicum block, the student is able to determine the vision of the institution and design a strategy. In problem solving, the student is able to select an appropriate technique and use it to find the cause of the problem and propose a solution to a challenging situation.
