Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to legal issues, law concept, creation of legal norms. 2. Law system in the Czech Republic. 3. The Constitution, the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. 4. Harmonization of legal norms of the Czech Republic and the EU and their relationship to healthcare. 5. Family law, social welfare of citizens, social services law. 6. Welfare system in the Czech Republic. 7. Responsibility to the provision of healthcare. 8. Labour Code: basic provision. 9. Criminal Code and its basics. 10. Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The subject informs about the law and legislative, and introduces valid legislation relating to the healthcare and social services system, rights and duties of health care professions, patients/clients and state administration bodies. It includes the areas of a professional legislation covering the work of a nurse.
Subject Knowledge: Students understand the basic legal terminology and they are familiar with the legal order in the Czech Republic. They understand the relationship of legal norms of the Czech Republic and EU and the relationship of legislative and executive power in health and social care. Subject Skills: Students are familiar with the field of social law in favour of a patient. They are able to identify and recognize legally problematic situations in medical practice, and in the profession of midwives.
