Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Integrated Rescue System, Unconsciousness. Injuries to the spine, joints and bones. Injuries to the chest and abdomen. Bleeding. Rival. Electric shock injury. First aid in sudden internal states. Choking. Anaphylactic shock. Exercise Topics: 2nd consultation: First Aid Procedures and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). Algorithm of urgent resuscitation in adult and child and newborn, according to new European guidelines for resuscitation - guidelines 2015. Treatment and positioning for head and spine injuries. Treatment during choking, release of foreign body from the airways. Dressing technique, treatment of wounds, stopping bleeding. Self-study: Immobilization techniques, injured positioning, transport.

Learning outcomes
The course is concipated as theoretical and practical and is part of a group of subjects based on clinical practice and new European guidelines for resuscitation - the so-called guidelines 2015. Students will acquire knowledge, skills and principles for the provision of lay and pre-medical first aid in acute and health-threatening conditions resulting from an accident or a sudden worsening of the disease. Students are acquainted with clinical conditions that directly endanger human life, including specific procedures that lead to their rescue.
Expertise: Student demonstrates a broad knowledge of the principles of providing first aid and urgent pre-hospital care, cooperation and tasks of individual components of the integrated rescue system and according to new European guidelines for resuscitation - guidelines 2015. He demonstrates understanding of quantitative and qualitative on the underlying cause, individual life-threatening conditions, and sudden events. Student demonstrates broad knowledge of the nature of damage to the body caused by the effect of heat, cold and electric current. Professional skills: Student is able to assess the situation and perform basic examination of the injured person, check the basic vital functions of the injured person, recognize symptoms that indicate a serious health disorder. Student is able to recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest recommended procedures, dressing technique to treat wounds and stop bleeding. He masters immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries and is able to put the patient in the necessary position and prepare it for transport, recognize the symptoms of an emerging shock and take anti-shock measures.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit: will be given for 80% attendance at lectures and seminars and 80% written test containing 35 questions. Exam: the course will be completed with an exam that will verify the student's theoretical knowledge and practical skills in providing first aid. It will consist of theoretical knowledge, practical implementation of given performance skills.
