Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. consultation: Introduction to the subject, basic terms. Shock, division, prevention, first aid. Unconsciousness, acute life-threatening states. Exigent resuscitation. Bandage material, bandages, technical tools. 2. consultation: Bloodless injuries: rules, fixation. Stopping the bleeding, treating wounds. Fractures, fixation, transport. Sports injuries: first aid. Sports injuries: prevention. Self-Study: First aid in sudden states: hypoglycaemia, epilepsy, CMP, IM, asthmatic fit, collapsible state.

Learning outcomes
Students receive some basic knowledge of first aid. Theoretical classes are focused on the knowledge of life-threatening states, especially on restoring basic life functions. During practical seminars the students will train first aid during life saving procedures (CPR), perform anti-shock precautions, train how to stop bleeding, fixate fractures, they will treat different kinds of wounds and try the positioning of the injured.
Subject Knowledge: Student can: - explain basic first aid terms, - describe first aid rules. Subject skills: Students can: - practically perform basic examination of the injured at the place of the accident - practically perform CPR (securing the airways, indirect heart massage) - practically perform anti-shock treatment for any state - practically stop all kinds of bleeding, - practically treat wounds and other bloodless injuries - practically treat fractures, bone and joint injuries, sports injuries - practically perform recovering and anti-shock position.
