Course content
Lecture topics: 1. The disease and its causes. Basic regressive changes. 2. Disorders of ions and water. 3. Disorders of glycid, fats. 4. Inflammations. 5. Pathology of the endocrine system. 6. Blood Pathology. 7. Pathology of respiratory system. 8. Pathology of peripheral nervous system. 9. Pathology of central nervous system. 10. Pathology of musculoskeletal system. Seminar topics: 1. Pathology, its importance and position in medicine. 2. Diabetes mellitus. 3. Metabolic disorders. 4. Pathophysiological basis of inflammation. 5. The effect of the hormone on bone tissue. Osteoporosis and osteomalacia. 6. Leukaemia, lymphoma. 7. Tuberculosis. 8. Sclerosis multiplex, Alzheimer's disorder. Parkinson's disorder. 9. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis. Lupus erythematodes. 10. Revision.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will get an overview of the causes of diseases, regressive and metabolism changes, inflammations, and tumor diseases. Students will also get an overview on how to handle material intended for histological examination, diagnostic methods used in routine activities and basic pathophysiologic mechanisms.
Subject Knowledge: Student master basic medical terminology and can define pathophysiology of individual diseases. Subject Skills: Student can actively use the knowledge of pathology and can apply pathology in practice, in science and in research.

Assessment methods and criteria

To obtain the credit it is necessary to cover 80% participation in seminars, to complete the internship at the Department of Pathology and at dissection. For passing the exam it is necessary to elaborate an examination project.
