Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. consultation: Pathology, content, methods, applicatoin. Connections to other fields. The types of necroses and their treatment. Gangrene, decubitus. Atrophy: causes, examples. Dystrophy of proteins: amyloidosis, hyaline change of ligaments. Diabetes mellitus: pathogenesis, complications. Troubles with water and minerals metabolism: calcium, calcification, crystalisation, lithiasis. Examples of pigmentation. Exogennous: coniofibrosis of lungs. Examples of ednogennous pigmentation (melanin, hematogennous). Icterus. 2. consultation: Pathology of pericardium, myocardium, endocardium. Pathology of veins and vascular system. Seminar Topics: 1. consultation: Disease: definition, characteristics, progress. Pathology role in treatment and preventive care. Autopsy, types, importance, tasks during autopsy. 2. consultation: Biopsy, characteristics, importance, methods of tissue extraction. Organism degradation: the nature of death, the causes of death, clinical death. Self-Study: Pathology of respiratory system. Pathology of motoric system. Pathology of central and peripheral nervous system.

Learning outcomes
Students will be presented the overview of disease causes, regresive and methabolic changes, inflammations and tumor diseases. Students will also know the methods of material processing for histological examination, diagnostic methods in routine practice and basic pathological mechanisms.
Subject Knowledge: Student should get a basic overview of general pathology and pathology of specified organs systems. Subject Skills: Students will learn basic medical terminology and understand the importance of pathology in practice, science and research.
