Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Digestive system diseases, peptic ulcer, liver diseases, manifestations and testing of liver encephalopathy. 2. Diseases of the excretory system including urinary incontinence and rehabilitation possibilities. 3. Rheumatological diseases with emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis and Mb. Bechterev. 4. Rehabilitation and balneotherapy of rheumatic diseases. 5. Metabolic bone diseases including KRBS. 6. Diabetes mellitus, classification, symptoms, hypoglycemia, physical activity in diabetics. 7. Diabetes mellitus chronic complications and their treatment with special emphasis on diabetic polyneuropathy and diabetic foot, including rehabilitation options. 8. Infectious diseases, thyroid diseases and other internal diseases and their importance for the affection of the musculoskeletal system and physical activity. 9. Approach to rehabilitation in oncological diseases. Exercise topics: 1. Measurement of blood pressure and heart rate - methodology, possibilities. 2. Analysis of human body composition, BMI determination. 3. Spirometric examination. 4. Determination of blood glucose, cholesterol and uric acid levels. 5. Functional tests of health-oriented fitness. 6. Caliperation according to Pařízková. 7. Stress ergometry. 8. Dynamometry, 9. Repetition.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide theoretical fundamentals of symptomatology of the most common internal diseases and their influence on physical and cognitive condition, to acquaint students with clinical symptoms and orientation and examination methods of the most common internal diseases. with non-pharmacological treatment options. The introduction also describes geriatric specifics including basic geriatric syndromes. Clinical units and groups of diseases with significant treatment options in the field of physiotherapy, ergotherapy, physical therapy and balneology are discussed in more detail, where the students are also acquainted with the theory of relevant procedures and methodologies. The second part of the course (II.) Is devoted to diseases of the digestive and excretory tract, rheumatological, metabolic diseases including diabetes mellitus and others with importance for musculoskeletal disorders, physical activity and rehabilitation.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of internal organs, knows basic clinical symptoms according to topics of selected internal diseases, or basic differential diagnosis of symptoms. The student knows the topics and procedures of selected internal diseases and recommendations of their non-pharmacological treatment with special emphasis on the possibilities and specific procedures of physiotherapy, ergotherapy, physical therapy and balneotherapy. The student knows the importance of affecting the musculoskeletal system and physical activity in selected internal diseases even where there are no specific rehabilitation procedures. Professional skills: The student is able to recommend individual parameters of physical therapy, to set a training or rehabilitation plan, to use aids and to instruct the patient in cardiac rehabilitation, in lung diseases, in rheumatological diseases and in diabetics. Can recognize the criteria of interruption of physical exercise from the perspective of cardiovascular and respiratory limits clinic and incipient hypoglycemia. General eligibility: Student is able to measure blood pressure, heart rate and pulse at rest and during exercise, student can calculate or otherwise determine individual training frequency for cardiac rehabilitation, can recommend appropriate exercise and physical activity for cardiac based on the results of stress test and other examinations, student can instruct autogenous drainage and other drainage techniques, can instruct the use of respiratory physiotherapy such as flutter or acapella, determine the suitability of footwear for diabetics.
