Course content
|
Lectures topics: 1. The basic principles and expectations of physical therapy , general indications and contraindications 2. - 4. Individual methods and procedures of physical therapy applied by physiotherapist, always in the structure: principle, effects, setting of the parameters of procedure and their influence on the effect, indications and contraindications, practical application. 5. - 7. Lectured methods and procedures: Hydrotherapy, Thermotherapy, and Phototherapy including Laser, Vacuum Compression Therapy, traction, medical Ultrasound, Contact Electrotherapy, and High Frequency Therapy. 8. Magnetic Therapy. 9. - 10. Electrostimulation and Electro Gymnastic, Magnetic Therapy, Distance Electrotherapy. 11. Principles of safe application and regulations of physical therapy, correct administration of the regulations in order to set the correct therapeutical parameters towards the goal of a treatment. Seminars topics: 1. - 3. Practical introduction with the tools of physical therapy and their setting 4. - 6. Practical application of physical therapy in group of students 7. - 8. Reflexology massage - back, chest, pelvic and assembly kit for neck 9. Soft tissue techniques, automobilization techniques for cervical and lumbar spine 10. Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as theoretically - practical. It enables students to obtain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of physical therapy. It focuses on applying traditional and modern physiotherapy procedures.
Subject Knowledge: Student can independently present the range of knowledge and skills about topics extent of lectures or to which is pointed out in lectures. Student knows the basic principles and mechanism of the effects of physical therapy on humans at all of the methods mentioned above, knows their effects on the human body and possibilities of their therapeutic effect, student is able to set individual parameters of the procedures of particular physical therapy, he knows how each parameter will affect the final result in terms of the effects of quality and quantity, he knows the setting options in regard to an individual therapeutic goals(not according to diagnoses, but principally according to therapeutic goals),can describe the process and its correct sequence when setting the device and location of devices applicators , knows exactly all of the contraindication methods, knows examples of the most often indicated methods. Student is familiar with the procedures and types of reflexology massage. Subject Skills: Student can correctly attach the applicators of physical therapy methods and can technically, correctly and safely apply individual procedures of physical therapy. Student can interpret a prescription - a set for the application of physical therapy from a doctor. According to the prescription and doctor's therapeutic intentions set, a student applies the procedure. Student is able to explain to the patient expected feelings during the application and expected effects of applied medical procedures. Student can practise the basic types of reflexology massage.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

Participation in a practical part - seminars 80%, credit on the basis of practical reflexology exam of massages. Final evaluation, an oral exam, three questions, theoretical and practical compilation of procedure based on an individual prescription prescribed by the doctor.
