Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Ergotherapy - definition, current conception and position of ergotherapy in the world and in the Czech Republic. 2. Ergotherapy focused on training self-sufficiency, ADL, aids. 3. Ergotherapy focused on the upper limb, examination of the hand and grip, use of splints. 4. Ergotherapy in psychiatry and geriatrics. 5. Ergotherapy in cognitive disorders. 6. Approaches of ergotherapy in typical clinical diagnoses and disabilities. 7. Evaluation of environment, removal of architectural barriers. 8. Functional occupational therapy, types of activities and work organization in occupational therapy workshops. 9. Ergotherapeutic approaches in children.

Learning outcomes
The course is concipated as theoretical and practical. Students will gain knowledge about the profession of ergotherapist, his position in the rehabilitation team, his examination and therapeutic methods. They will know the importance of evaluating and practicing self-sufficiency, using and prescribing compensatory aids. They will become acquainted with the assessment of the environment and the quality of life of people with disabilities. They will understand the participation of occupational therapist in pre-work rehabilitation, types of activities and organization of work in occupational therapy workshops.
Expertise: Students are familiar with the field of occupational therapy and its inclusion in the rehabilitation team. They will understand the position and goals of the occupational therapist in health care and social services, influencing the situation of disabled people. Professional skills: Ability of empathetic attitude and adequate communication with the client depending on his health and life situation. Ability of cooperation between physiotherapists and occupational therapists when working with clients, application of aids, hand rehabilitation. General eligibility: The student is able to practically use some ergotherapeutic approaches. In particular the selection and application of compensatory and technical aids.

Credit: verification of professional knowledge and skills of continuity of physiotherapy and ergotherapy - development of case reports. Exam: written exam from given topics
