Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Surgery - general part, inflammation, tumors, shock, urgent resuscitation. 2. Surgery - specific part - cardio surgery, chest surgery, breast tumors. 3. Surgery of abdominal and urogenital system, surgery of arteries and veins. 4. Traumatology - wounds, burns, skull and brain injury. 5. Traumatology - Chest and abdominal injuries. 6. Fractures - basic types, the most common fracture according to localization of conservative therapy, operative therapy. 7. Fractures - basic types, the most common fracture according to localization of conservative therapy, operative therapy. 8. Fractures - basic types, the most common fracture according to localization of conservative therapy, operative therapy. 9. Complication fracture healing, pelvis, upper and lower limbs. 10. Revision.

Learning outcomes
A brief history of the field. Knowledge of the basic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in surgery by individual areas and fields with the application of the latest trends in relation to rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Complex overview of diagnostics and subsequent conservative and operative treatments of musculoskeletal trauma with emphasis on prevention and utilization of the most modern operational trends in traumatology in relation to the subsequent physiotherapy.
Subject Knowledge: Student can explain within the terminology of general surgery the principals of treatment of surgery inflammations, knows the basic division of tumors and shocks. Student can describe individual steps of an urgent resuscitation and he is able to demonstrate it. Student can enumerate and briefly describe basic illnesses and principles of head surgery, chest and abdomen surgery by individual fields, can describe types of burns and principles of their treatment. Subject Skills: Student knows the division of musculoskeletal injuries by type of affected tissues and fractures and by individual localizations, is able to describe diagnostic and treatment methods in traumatology, with emphasis to the subsequent rehabilitation. The degree of knowledge will be verified by continuous tests.

Active participation, an internship according to the possibilities at surgical or traumatology clinics, in an operating room. Successful completion of the written test- 70%, an oral exam.
