Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. consultation: Surgery: general part, inflammations, tumours, shock, inconsistent resuscitation. Surgery: special part - cardiosurgery, pectoral surgery, breast tumours. 2. consultation: Abdomen surgery, urogenital system, surgery of veins and arteries. Traumatology: wounds, burns, injuries of skull and brain, chest, abdomen. 3. consultation: Fractures: basic types, most frequent fractures based on locality of conservational therapy, operative therapy. Treatment complications when dealing with the fractures of pelvis, upper and lower limbs. Seminar Topics: 2. consultation: Internship at the traumatology department or emergency department, operational rooms, intensive care units. 3. consultation: Internship at the traumatology department or emergency department, operational rooms, intensive care units. Self-Study: Soft and bone structures treatment process. Sports traumatology. Specifics of traumatology in young age.

Learning outcomes
Brief history overview of the field. Basic diagnostic and medical procedures in surgery according to specified areas and fields. Application of the latest trends connected with rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Complex overview of diagnostics and following conservational and operative treatments of injuries of the motoric system focused on prevention. The application of the latest operational trends in traumatology and physiotherapy.
Subject Knowledge: Regarding general surgery course student can explain the principle of treating surgical inflammations; he/she knows basic types of shocks and tumours. He/she can describe the steps of urgent resuscitation and can perform them practically. He/she can names and briefly characterize basic disorders and the principle of surgeries in the area of head, chest and belly based on various fields of study. He/she can describe the types of burns and their treatment process. Subject Skills: Student knows the motoric system injuries based on the types of tissues and fractures, including localization, he/she can describe treatment and diagnostic methods in traumatology focused on following rehabilitation. The level of knowledge will be assessed by means of regular tests.

Active participation, if possible internship at the surgery or traumatology emergency department, operating rooms. Self-study of recommended literature and study aids. Successful passing of a written test with 70% acceptance level, an oral exam.
