Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to legal issues, the conception of law, the creation of legal standards. 2. The system of laws in the Czech Republic. 3. The Constitution, the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Basic Freedoms. 4. Coordination of legal standards in the Czech Republic and the EU and their relation to health care system. 5. Family law, social care of citizens and social services law. 6. The system of social security in the Czech Republic. 7. Responsibility for health care performance. 8. TheLabour Code: basic regulations. 9. Criminal law and its basics. 10. Offences in the area of health care and the basics of the law. Seminar Topics: 1. Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The subject informs about the law and legislation and familiarizes students with valid legislation related to the system of health care and social care services, rights and responsibilities of health care professions, patients/clients and organs of state administration. The subject includes the fields of professional legislation regarding nursing activities.
Subject knowledge: Students understand basic legal terminology and get familiarized with legal code of the Czech Republic. They understand relation between legal system in the Czech Republic and the EU and the relation between legislature and executive in the health care and social care system. They have an overview of the legislative system and deeper knowledge in selected areas. Professional Skills: Students have a good insight into social area of the law benefiting the patient. They can recognize and identify legal issues in health care when performing a midwife profession.
