Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Psychological problems of disease. 2. Relations between psychosomatic and somatopsychic, autoplastic picture of the disease. 3. Experiencing the disease in time, the ratio of sick to ill. 4. Psychological problems of hospitalization, iatropatogenie, sororigenie and egrotogenie. 5. Professional deformation, danger of burn-out syndrome. 6. Stress, psychology of pain. 7. Types of disability and psychological approach to clients. 8. Anxiety, fear. 9. Principles of professional behavior. Seminar Topics: 1. Productive and non-productive behavior, health care professional as a client. 2. Psychotherapy in medical work. 3. Illness as a difficult life situation. 4. Communication with a sick client. 5. Communication within the client's social network. 6. Non-adaptive characters, non-productive behavior. 7. Productive behavior and its manifestations. 8. Special features of approach to clients at individual departments - internal, surgical. 9. Special features of approach to clients at individual departments - gynecological and neurological.

Learning outcomes
The subject as a part of the subject of psychology introduces the problems of medical psychology. It deepens the knowledge that is important for the professional management of challenging situations in the care of the individual needs of the sick, the handicapped and the dying, as well as for maintaining the mental balance of an independent care provider.
Expertise: The student has knowledge that is important for the professional mastery of demanding situations in the care of the individual needs of the sick, disabled and dying, as well as for maintaining the mental balance of an independent care and assistance provider. Professional skills: The graduate is able to adequately saturate the client's needs and solve the problems associated with the disease. He is able to approach clients in the context of specific diseases. Competences: Student is able to apply acquired knowledge to occupational therapy practice.

Credit: student gets credit for at least 80% of active participation in the seminar and demonstrates orientation in the given issue in written form. Exam: oral.
