Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Work with ergotherapeutic documentation, formulating treatment goals, compensatory aids 2. Assessment and training of self-sufficiency in individual types of disability, positioning, training of transfers 3. Methods based on neurophysiological background - basic characteristics, practical demonstrations Seminar Topics: Managing occupational therapy documentation, treatment goals setting. The basics of Bobath concept and other therapy methods. The analysis of activities focused on movement and muscular strength development. Grip function testing, the aids for a grip. Assessing and training the independence for individual types of disabilities. Self-Study: Detailed study of basic occupational therapy models, especially Canadian model covering professional performance. Studying the material offered by the Czech Association of Occupational Therapists and internet pages of international occupational therapy organizations.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to familiarize students with occupational therapy specialization and its history, to provide sound theoretical basis and the overview of knowledge and skills which an occupational therapist should apply in the areas and institutions where an occupational therapist can find an employment.
Subject Knowledge: Students can describe the position of an occupational therapist in health care and social services, the scope of his work and the situtation with disabled people in the society. They are able to understand theoretical basics of occupational therapy and have the knowledge of common tests including the assessment of the environment, knowledge of specific problems suffered by different types of clients. They are able to apply technical aids. Professional Skills: Students can manage practical independence assessment, they know occupational therapy methods, the selection of suitable aids, and they can provide the assessment of the environment and can suggest the removal of barriers. They try performing an emphatic attitude and adequate communication with the client depending on his state of health and life situation, they know how to gain the information from the client and also from the records.
