Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Introduction to the subject, technical terms, selected upper and lower limb amputations, characteristics of upper and lower limb prostheses, orthotics, calceotics and adjuvatics. Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: Care for the amputation stump (anti-rotation measures, positioning?), practicing prosthesis manipulation and walking school with drop training, practical use of ergotherapy. Self-study: Anatomy of shoulder girdle and lower limb, types of prostheses and their basic characteristics, problems of social and occupational rehabilitation, diabetes mellitus - as a frequent diagnosis in amputations.

Learning outcomes
Teaching is conceived to obtain a general overview of the prosthetic field. The individual topics are then focused on the practical use of knowledge when working with patients. Emphasis is placed on developing logical thinking, deciding on the type of aids depending on the ability to identify the loss of neuromuscular apparatus functions.
Expertise: In the theoretical knowledge, students demonstrate the ability to characterize individual amputations, use professional terminology related to the subject, the ability to describe issues related to the amputation. Professional skills: Students can design modifications of the environment and appropriate use of compensatory aids. Students are able to apply theoretical knowledge into practice. Competences: The student is able to orientate in the given issue, where he / she can work with the given problem. He is also able to apply the knowledge gained in other subjects.
