Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Integrated Rescue System, Unconsciousness. Injuries to the spine, joints and bones. Injuries to the chest and abdomen. Bleeding. Rival. Electric shock injury. First aid in sudden internal states. Choking. Anaphylactic shock. Exercise Topics: 1st consultation: First aid procedures. Urgent resuscitation algorithm for adults and children and newborns. Treatment and positioning for head and spine injuries. Treatment for suffocation, release of foreign body with airway. Dressing technique, wound care, bleeding. Immobilization techniques, positioning of injured, transport. Self-study: transport and positioning of the injured, shock and collapse states poisoning and convulsions.

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as a theoretical and practical part of a group of subjects based on clinical practice. Students will acquire knowledge, skills and principles for providing laical and pre-medical first aid in acute and health-threatening conditions resulting from an accident or sudden worsening of the disease. Students are acquainted with clinical conditions that immediately threaten human life, including specific procedures that lead to its rescue. The course also includes knowledge of the legal and organizational issues of providing first aid, the organization of disaster medicine, emergency care and crisis management.
Expertise: Student can: - describe the principles of first aid and urgent pre-hospital care - describe the cooperation and tasks of the individual components of the integrated rescue system - enumerate and define quantitative and qualitative changes in consciousness, breathing and circulation, depending on the underlying cause - List and describe individual life-threatening conditions and sudden events - recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries - define the degree and extent of damage to the body caused by the effects of heat, cold and electric current Professional skills: Student can: - assess the situation and perform a basic examination of the injured - Check the basic life functions of the injured - recognize symptoms that indicate a serious health disorder - perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest best practices - dressing technique for wounds and bleeding - immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries - place the victim in the required position and prepare him for transport, recognize the symptoms of the onset of shock and take anti-shock measures Competences: Students will be able to provide first aid for injuries and acute conditions that endanger health or life. He will be able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and know how to use the AED.
