Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. consultation: Pathology and its subject, methods and their application. Interdisciplinary connections. The examples of types of necrosis and their treatment. Gangrene, decubitus. Atrophy: causes, examples. Dystrophy of protein: amyloidosis, hyaline change of tissues. Diabetes mellitus: pathogenesis, complications. Disorders of metabolism of water, minerals: calcium, calcification, crystallization, lithiasis. The examples of pigmentation. Exogenous: coniofibrosis of lungs. The examples of endogenous pigmentation (melanin, hematogenous). Icterus. 2. consultation: The pathology of the pericardium, myocardium, endocardium. The pathology of vessels and blood system. Seminar Topics: 1. consultation: Desease/disorder: definition, characteristics, process. The task of pathology in treatment and preventive care. Post-mortem, types of post-mortem, purpose of post-mortem, tasks for securing post-mortem. 2. consultation: Biopsy, characteristics, purpose, the ways of taking tissues. The death of organism: basis of death, causes of death, clinical death. Self-Study: Pathology of respiratory system. Pathology of locomotive system. Pathology of central and peripheral nervous system.

Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to get understanding about the causes of deseases, regressive and metabolic changes, inflammations and tumorous illnesses. Students will be also provided with the overview of the ways of processing material designed for histological examination, diagnostic methods regularly apllied and basic pathophysiological mechanisms.
Subject Knowledge: Students should gain a general undersrandign of pathology and pathology of basic organ systems. Professional Skills: Students can manage basic medical terminology and understand the use of pathology in practice, science and research.
