Lecture Topics: 1. VAS: vertebrogenic algic syndrome. 2. Peripheral nervous system, myopathy, myasthenia gravis. 3. Headaches, neurosis, epilepsy. 4. Cerebrovascular accident (CVA). 5. Central nervous system (CNS). 6. CNS and its injuries. 7. The infection of nervous system, spinal cord and its illnesses, spinal syndromes, topography. 8. Multiple sclerosis: cerebrospinal. 9. Extrapyramidal and other degenerations of nervous system, cerebral palsy. 10. Revision. Seminar Topics: 1. Neurological examination from the perspective of a physiotherapist. 2. Examination of peripheral nervous system: an upper limb. 3. Examination of peripheral nervous system: a lower limb. 4. Examination of central nervous system. 5. Examination of central nervous system. 6. Examination of cerebellum. 7. Examination of extrapyramidal system. 8. Examination of standing position and walking from neurological perspective. 9. Learning outcomes |
The subject is classified as theoretically-practical and it follows neurology basics. This knowledge is a precondition for enrolling into the course of special neurology. It introduces the students with the fundamentals of certain neurological disorders. The goal of the subject is to provide understanding of diagnostic and therapeutical procedures for selected neurological disorders including the basics of complex care for neurological patients and special examinations in neurology from the point of view of physiotherapy.
Subject Knowledge: Students can describe basic mechanisms regarding creation of neurological disorders including special examination in neurology which is a necessary conditions for applying physiotherapeutic conceptions and methods on neurophysiologic basis. The student can apply professional terminology. Professional Skills: The student is aware of the issues of special neurology and can examine peripheral and central nervous system from the view of a physiotherapist. He can apply gained knowledge in physiotherapeutic situations including the methods and procedures which have a neurophysiologic basis in their application and diagnostics. |
