Course content
Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: Introduction to communication. Assertiveness, training of assertive behavior. Possibilities of non-verbal communication with individuals with sensory disabilities. Principles of communication of people with disabilities and seniors. Technical aids for communication. Self-study: Verbal communication and its pitfalls. Nonverbal communication. Principles of healthy communication and communication errors.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of communication and development of their communication skills. The course is focused on the types and forms of communication, the effectiveness of communication networks, the use of assertiveness in communication. It focuses on the issue of communication of people with disabilities and the elderly in the rehabilitation process.
Expertise: The student is able to define terms related to verbal and nonverbal communication. He knows the principles of communication with people with disabilities and the elderly. Professional skills: The acquired knowledge can be used in communication with patients / clients with disabilities and seniors. Competences: The student is able to use the acquired elements of communication in direct work with patients / clients. Student is able to adapt the form of transfer of information according to the communication level of a person with disabilities.
