Lecture Topics: 1. Diabetes mellitus, division, acute and chronic complications and their treatment with special emphasis on diabetic polyneuropathy and diabetic foot including the possibility of rehabilitation, examination of movement activity by diabetics. 2. Digestive system disorders, signs and testing of hepatic encephalopathy. 3. Excretory system disorders including urinary incontinence and rehabilitation possibilities. 4. Rheumatologic disorders with the emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis and Bechterew's Syndrome. 5. Metabolic bones disorders including CRPS. 6. General symptoms of infectious disorders and their importance for rehabilitation. 7. Access to rehabilitation after oncology diseases. 8. Geriatric syndromes. 9. Rehabilitation treatment in internal medicine. 10. Revision.

Learning outcomes |
The goal of the subject is to provide theoretic basics of symptomatology of the most common internal diseases and their influence on physical and also cognitive condition. The course will briefly introduce the students with examination and medical treatment methods for most common internal diseases and will provide special knowledge about some acute complications related to these diseases. It will also introduce the students with the possibilities of non-pharmacological treatment in particular with the possibilities of regime precautions, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and balneology for most common internal diseases. The second part of the subject is devoted to metabolic and endocrinologic diseases focused on diabetes mellitus and skeletal metabolic illnesses, diseases of digestive tract, excretory system, basic rheumatologic illnesses with emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew's and general symptomatology of infectious diseases. Finally, the course deals with the issues of the old age diseases, geriatric symptoms and principles of rehabilitation treatment in internal medicine.
Subject Knowledge: Students can independently present the extent of framed knowledge they gained during attending the lectures or the extent of knowledge gained during self-study of the material presented during the lectures. Professional Skills: Students can assess the suitability of shoes for diabetics with polyneuropathy and threatening syndrome of diabetic foot and can recommend daily regime of physical strain by a diabetic. They can make a test of cognitive dysfunction by hepatic encephalopathy, measure the distance on the spine used in the diagnostics of spine development of rheumatologic diseases. |
