Lecture Topics: 1. General goals of ergotherapy in neurological patients, expected return of lost functions. 2. Ergotherapy in stroke as a model of central palsy, modification of hand function. 3. Ergotherapy in wounds and tumors of the brain, MS, difference in age-related goals. 4. Ergotherapy for disorders of the extrapyramidal system and chronic infections. 5. Occupational therapy in children with cerebral palsy and other childhood diagnoses. 6. Ergotherapy after spinal cord injury. 7. Occupational therapy in peripheral paresis, especially in HK. Consequences of poliomyelitis. 8. Vertebrogenic syndromes. 9. Ergotherapeutic procedures in cognitive disorders, speech disorders, intellectual abilities. Seminar Topics: 1. Ergotherapy in stroke. 2. Familiarization with elements of facilitation methods, restitution and hand function substitution. 3. Ergotherapy in brain injury. 4. Ergotherapy in MS. 5. Training of cognitive functions, pre-work evaluation. 6. Ergotherapy in spinal lesion. 7. Functions of hand at tetraplegics, wheelchair movement and movement, possibility of sport. 8. Ergotherapy in cerebral palsy and other pediatric patients, training of games, self-sufficiency, continuity with school. 9. Occupational therapy in peripheral paresis on GC, using splints.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as theoretical and practical. It is a continuation of lectures of Neurology. Students will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge that will be applied in the field of ergotherapy for clients with neurological diagnoses in post-acute and chronic periods. Emphasis is placed on self-sufficiency training, hand therapy and pre-work rehabilitation.
Expertise: The student has an overview of function disorders in neurological diagnoses, possibilities of adjustment. Professional skills: The student is able to suggest ergotherapeutic intervention in the field of neurology. Competences: The student is able to cooperate with the patient, evaluate the condition and propose a therapeutic procedure.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit: at least 80% active attendance at seminars, knowing the basis of neurological examination, training to assist the patient in a wheelchair or with severe hemiparesis. Exam: a written test
