Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Work hygiene - goals, methods of work, realization in practice; Physical, chemical and biological factors in the work environment, their impact on health and prevention; Health risk assessment, hazardous work, medical preventive examinations; Hygiene of work in individual activities within ergotherapy. Physiology of work; Physical, sensory, mental workload; Ergonomics - goals, working methods, ergonomic programs. Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: Human performance, application of anthropology in ergonomics. Local muscular work load, adaptation to working conditions. Prevention of workload and stress, ergonomics of the workplace. Influence of manipulation with loads on organism. Ergonomics of disabled people. Self-study: Load Handling, Ergonomic Workplace Adjustment Principles; Diseases of DNJZ and their prevention; Intervention programs and workplace health promotion.

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as theoretical - practical. Students will be acquainted with the evaluation of working conditions, physical, chemical and biological factors of the working environment of their influence on health, assessment of health risks, categorization of work, with the basics of work physiology and ergonomics, with evaluation of physical and sensory workload and with the principles of measures to protect workers health.
Expertise: Students master the ways of identifying factors of the working environment and their impact on workers 'health, health risk assessment, categorization of work, measures to protect workers' health. Students master the basics of work physiology, assessment of physical, sensory and mental stress at work and the impact on workers' health, principles of job adjustment and adaptation of working conditions to physical and psychological characteristics and employees. Students will know the focus of ergonomics, the principles of correct handling of loads and preventive measures to protect the locomotor system and prevention of diseases from DNJZ and ergonomic principles of adjusting jobs and adapting working conditions to persons with reduced working capacity. Competences: Student is able to practically use the knowledge of ergonomics in individual indication areas of ergotherapy, and is able to make independent and responsible decisions in only partially known contexts based on the framework assignment
