Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Ergotherapy at Sensory Defects - Introduction to the subject. Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics - Introduction to the Subject. 2nd consultation: Occupational therapy in geriatrics - introduction to the subject, issues of aging and old age, changes in old age from the perspective of ergotherapy, work and communication with the geriatric client and with the client in the terminal stage of the disease. Exercise Topics: 1st consultation: Work in the group - analyzes of case reports, suggestions of therapy according to diagnoses with regard to sensory defects and pediatrics. 2nd consultation: Group work - analysis of selected diagnoses (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and rheumatoid arthritis), review case reports. Self-study: Arthrosis, Morbus Bechtereval-ergotherapeutic agents, juvenile arthritis - physical symptoms, mental and functional consequences, Parkinson's disease, age depression, organically conditioned age psychosis, cerebral palsy, chronic childhood diseases, family and disabled child. Tyfloservis, compensatory aids for individuals with visual and hearing impairment, socialization of individuals with sensory disabilities.

Learning outcomes
The course is the basic subject of the profile of the study program. It is conceived as a theoretical and practical, it follows the course Theory of ergotherapy. The subject deals with ergotherapy in geriatrics including palliative care, in pediatrics and in individuals with sensory disabilities. Students will gain knowledge about the use of ergotherapy in these fields and the possibilities of activities purposefully chosen with regard to physical and mental aspects. The complexity of treatment and cooperation with the family is emphasized.
Expertise: Students will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills enabling the application of appropriate therapeutic procedures in the areas of sensory defects, paediatrics and geriatrics. Professional skills: The student is able to apply appropriate therapeutic procedures and methods based on diagnostics in the given clinical area. Competences: The student is able to practically apply therapeutic procedures in practice, in individual indication areas of ergotherapy, and is able to make independent and responsible decisions in only partially known contexts based on the framework assignment.
