Course content
Lecture topics: 1st consultation: Conditions after traumatic damage. Hand surgery - possible consequences physical, psychological, social, self-care, equipping with aids. Conditions after soft tissue injuries - problems, treatment goals. 2nd consultation: Conditions after amputation. Occupational therapy after fractures. Complications of upper extremity fracture treatment. Alloplasty of large joints Exercise topics: 1st consultation: Analyzes of case reports of patients after trauma. Types of scars - a practical example of scar care methods, basic methods of care for soft tissue injuries, occupational therapy procedures after surgery The issue of amputations - a practical example of stiffening and bandaging the stump Follow-up of case studies of patients with hand trauma - design of splints, compensatory aids. Self-study: Possibilities of ergotherapy after traumatic damage to the head, upper limbs and lower limbs in the acute, subacute and chronic phase.

Learning outcomes
The subject is a basic subject of the field. It is conceived as a theoretical - practical, continuing the course Surgery and Traumatology. Students acquire knowledge and skills in the field of client examination, practical skills and experience in applying ergotherapeutic techniques to the department of traumatology, surgery and orthopedics.
Expertise: Students will acquire knowledge and practical skills enabling application of appropriate therapeutic procedures in the field of traumatology, orthopedics and surgery. Professional skills: Students are able to apply appropriate therapeutic methods based on diagnostics in the given clinical area. Competences: The student is able to suggest a therapy plan for individual disabilities, the emphasis is on optimizing the function and achieving independence in the home environment and return to work. The student is able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice in surgery, traumatology and orthopedics.

Credit: Active participation in classes. Analysis of the case report of a patient after trauma in the area of the upper limb, proposal of a short-term occupational therapy plan, splints and compensatory aids.
