Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Surgery: general part, inflammations, tumours, shock, emergency resuscitation. 2. Surgery: special part - cardiac surgery, chest surgery, breast tumours. 3. Abdomen surgery, urogenital system, surgery of arteries and veins. 4. Traumatology: wounds, burns, skull and brain surgery. 5. Traumatology: chest and abdomen surgery. 6. Fractures: basic types, most common fractures according to location. 7. Fractures: basic types, conservative therapy, operative therapy. 8. Complications during the treatment of fractures and pelvis. 9. Complications during the treatment of upper limb and lower limb fractures. 10. Revision.

Learning outcomes
The brief overview of the subject history. The knowledge of basic diagnostic and treatment processes in surgery based on individual areas and fields with applying the most modern trends to realize rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The complex overview of diagnostics and subsequent conservative as well as operative treatment of locomotive apparatus with the emphasis on prevention and application of the most modern surgical trends in traumatology related to the subsequent physiotherapy.
Subject Knowledge: Within the framework of general surgery students can explain the principles of treating surgical inflammations and they know some basic division of tumours and shocks. They can describe individual steps of emergency resuscitation and are able to demonstrate it practically. The student can name and briefly describe basic illnesses/disorders and principles of surgeries in the head, chest and abdomen areas according to specific issues. They can describe some types of burns and principles how to treat them. Professional Skills: The student knows the classification of injuries of locomotive apparatus according to the types of affected tissues and fractures in individual locations and can describe diagnostic and treatment methods in traumatology with the emphasis put on the rehabilitation.
