Main Topics: 1. Introduction to the course, basic concepts and terminology of project management. 2. Project life cycle and project phases; process model (planning, implementation, control). 3. Project initiation, identification, and conception (project proposal, logical framework approach, defining project objectives, SWOT analysis). 4. Project team and organisational structures: organising project teams, managerial skills and competencies. 5. Development of the project proposal I ? stakeholder analysis, communication plan. Development of the project proposal II ? project schedule, project budget. 6. Project risk management, quality management, and project structuring. 7. Feasibility study and opportunity analysis of the project. 8. Project implementation and controlling. 9. Project success criteria. 10. Project closure and post-project phase.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course Project Management is to introduce students to the basic principles of project management in the context of the public sector (non-profit organisations). The course also includes an analysis of the fundamental aspects of fundraising, with particular emphasis on potential sources of project financing. Students will acquire professional terminology, basic methods of project management, and the principles of fundraising. Within practical sessions, students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical examples and become familiar with the key aspects of successful projects.
After completing the course, the student will be able to: 1. Identify key aspects and opportunities in project initiation (objectives, scope, stakeholders, risks). 2. Plan a project: break down activities (WBS), define milestones, resources, budget, and schedule. 3. Establish a system for monitoring and performance measurement (KPIs, baseline, reporting, control points). 4. Manage project implementation, including risk, change, and quality management, and apply corrective actions. 5. Define and apply appropriate methods for ongoing evaluation of individual project phases. 6. Conduct a final evaluation (achievement of objectives, benefits, efficiency, sustainability) and prepare a final report. 7. Independently develop a project proposal and apply acquired management methods and procedures; justify and defend conclusions.

A team semester project focused on an experiment on decision-making heuristics (design, data collection, analysis, and recommendations). The output consists of anonymised data and/or a report presenting the results (effect and effect size).
