Course content
Main Topics: 1. Fundamentals of healthcare organisation in regions: the structure of the healthcare system in the Czech Republic, the role of regions, legislation, and the responsibilities of regional authorities. 2. Healthcare planning: methods for assessing regional population healthcare needs, regional healthcare plans, and strategies. 3. Financing of healthcare services: budget planning, relations with health insurance companies, and the efficient use of financial resources. 4. Coordination and cooperation: cooperation among healthcare providers, crisis management in regions, and integration of primary and secondary care. 5. Accessibility of healthcare services: geographical, economic, and social aspects of accessibility; addressing inequalities in access to healthcare. 6. Digitalisation and innovation: the role of digital technologies and telemedicine in the organisation of healthcare at the regional level. 7. Quality and safety management: implementation of quality standards and monitoring the performance of healthcare facilities. 8. Crisis management: management of healthcare crises (pandemics, natural disasters), the integrated rescue system and its links to healthcare. 9. Challenges and trends in healthcare management: population ageing, migration, and the impact of climate change on healthcare. 10. Case studies: successful models of healthcare organisation in regions ? examples from the Czech Republic and abroad.

Learning outcomes
The course Organisation and Management of Healthcare in Regions provides a comprehensive overview of the systemic organisation and management of healthcare services at the regional level. It addresses issues related to the planning, financing, and coordination of healthcare, with an emphasis on the efficient use of resources, accessibility of healthcare services, and cooperation among the various stakeholders within the healthcare system. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills and prepares students for an active role in the optimisation of regional healthcare structures and their long-term development.
After completing the course, the student will be able to: 1. Understand the principles of the organisation and management of healthcare at the regional level. 2. Analyse regional healthcare needs and propose effective strategies. 3. Apply methods of planning and financing healthcare services in regions. 4. Identify and address inequalities in access to healthcare. 5. Propose and implement innovative approaches to healthcare management at the regional level.

A comprehensive analysis of a selected issue in regional healthcare (e.g. an assessment of the accessibility of healthcare in a specific region or a proposal for innovations in healthcare quality management). A proposal for a systemic improvement based on data and relevant academic literature.
