Course content
## Lecture Topics: 1. Fundamentals of regional healthcare organisation: structure of the healthcare system in the Czech Republic, role of regions, legislation, and responsibilities of regional authorities. 2. Healthcare planning: methods for assessing population health needs at regional level, regional health plans and strategies. 3. Financing of healthcare services: budgeting processes, relations with health insurance companies, and efficient use of financial resources. 4. Coordination and cooperation: collaboration among healthcare providers, crisis management at regional level, integration of primary and secondary care. 5. Accessibility of healthcare services: geographical, economic, and social dimensions of accessibility; addressing inequalities in access to care. 6. Digitalisation and innovation: role of digital technologies and telemedicine in regional healthcare organisation. 7. Quality and safety management: implementation of quality standards and monitoring of healthcare performance. 8. Crisis management: management of healthcare emergencies (pandemics, natural disasters), integrated emergency system and its linkage to healthcare services. 9. Challenges and trends in healthcare management: ageing population, migration, and the impact of climate change on healthcare systems. 10. Case studies: successful models of regional healthcare organisation ? examples from the Czech Republic and abroad.

Learning outcomes
The course *Organisation and Management of Healthcare in Regions* provides a comprehensive overview of the systemic structure and management of healthcare services at the regional level. It addresses issues of planning, financing, and coordination of healthcare delivery, with an emphasis on the efficient use of resources, accessibility of healthcare services, and cooperation among individual stakeholders within the healthcare system. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills and prepares students for an active role in optimising regional healthcare structures and supporting their long-term development.
After completing the course, the student will be able to: 1. Understand the principles of organisation and management of healthcare at the regional (county) level. 2. Analyse regional healthcare needs and propose effective strategies. 3. Apply methods of planning and financing healthcare services in regions. 4. Identify and address inequalities in access to healthcare. 5. Design and implement innovative approaches to healthcare management at the regional level.

Assessment methods and criteria

Preparation of a comprehensive analysis of a selected issue in regional healthcare (for example, an evaluation of the accessibility of healthcare in a specific region or a proposal for innovations in healthcare quality management). The assignment also includes the design of a systemic improvement based on data and relevant professional literature.
