Learning outcomes
The Graphic Design Studio II prepares students for the career of a professional designer - graphic artists with a job in a whole range of graphic jobs, from working in a studio or advertising agency to a self-employed "free" artist. During the study, the student is aware of the breadth of his own abilities and learns to use them to express personal opinions and artistic attitudes. In addition to the priority utility level of graphic design, whose creative output is perceived as a carrier of visual information, mediator of visual communication and cultivating social phenomenon or format of sharing a particular platform of opinion, emphasis is also placed on a separate artistic level of expression, especially in the form of illustrations. Studio teaching focuses on the specific characteristics and skills of the student. The ongoing discussions are based on a democratic approach and horizontally shared competencies. When assigning and solving assigned tasks, the individual assumptions, skills and interests of each student are taken into account, even taking into account his / her considered direction in the next professional career. Based on the continuous evaluation of the specification of personal approaches and plans of students, teaching takes place by assigning precisely targeted tasks and their independent solution, in the form of individual analysis and discussion and group presentations. The studio places strong emphasis on monitoring and analysis of current industry and technological trends, on evaluating their adaptability in the Czech context and on the possibility of connecting practical teaching with related theoretical disciplines. For this subject, it is not possible to precisely determine the topics (syllabus) of teaching after individual weeks (blocks) of teaching, because it is a type of teaching specific to art schools. This course is a studio teaching, which is very flexible and tries to address the individual needs of students, both in the field of theory and in the field of practical implementation of the resulting product-artifact. This means that unique current topics (theoretical, technological) are addressed throughout the semester, depending on how the gradual implementation of individual projects develops depending on specific assignments. Therefore, the solved topics cannot be strictly determined in advance, as they crystallize gradually during the semester.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
