1. Basic concepts, introduction to the context of font creation: Typography, Font writing, Font painting, Calligraphy, Font, Font. Font classification: Solper's classification. Assignment of a semester task. 2. Institutions and typography / font creation. Schools: ECAL, Rietveld, UMPRUM, Reading? Conferences: ATyPI? Competition shows: Type Directors club. Consultation of the semester task. 3. Construction of characters: basic concepts, vertical metrics, connection of round strokes, overlaps of round strokes, ending of round strokes. Semester assignment consultation. 4. Drawing curves in Glyphs application: principles, curve relations, measurement and control. Semester assignment consultation. 5. Character set: minuses, capitals, capitals, Figure sets, jumping numbers, table numbers. Semester assignment consultation. 6. Character set: languages ??and accents, creation of diacritics. Working with components in glyphs. Semester assignment consultation. 7. Character set: fractions, ligatures. Semester assignment consultation. 8. Workshop within the semester assignment. 9. Field technologies III / Font creation The course is intended for students of the specialization Graphic Design, partly following the course Typography and theory of writing. The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the issue of writing in the form of theoretical lectures, practical semester assignments and thematic workshop blocks.
