During the course, students acquaint with the type phenomenon and its development (historic and shape), they solve practical assignments with type, and make sure of its aesthetic principles and patterns. Further, the course focuses on developing receptivity and sensibility to typography, development of the principle of analyzing and recognizing quality and aesthetics of typographical arrangements, and obtaining practical experience by means of more demanding typographical arrangements. Part of the study is also detailed learning about typographical and technological preparation of prints and publications, interconnection of the pictorial part with the typographical arrangement, determination of the print format and range, and of the page layout. Students will acquire knowledge of work in vector and bitmap-oriented programs, of scanning, and of correct saving and exporting documents. In the practical part, emphasis is placed on current trends and technologies in the field of digitization of typography or pictographic systems as applicable, and on visualization of data and information in general. Teaching cannot be divided into weekly schedules - the pedagogical approach is strongly individualized, reflecting preferences and skills of the given group.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
